An Invisible dental appliance for teens to create their smile with simplicity

We know that wearing braces can be a difficult time for teenagers. That’s why we recommend Invisalign.

This solution is almost invisible and they won’t worry about what others think.

A removable solution

Unlike traditional orthodontic treatments, you are free to remove your aligners at any time.

It means that you can floss and brush your teeth with ease and thus you are keeping a perfect oral hygiene at all times. You won’t even have to adapt your diet as there are no dietary restrictions and at last you will have the possibility to be treatment free during special occasions as it is removable.

Of course to ensure the optimal results it is recommended to wear your aligners at least 20 to 22 hours per day.

Since 1999, more than 5 million patients across the world have been successfully treated with Invisalign. However, it is important to be treated by a specialist in Invisalign, and more precisely an orthodontist with Platinum Elite Provider status with Invisalign.

This status assures you that the orthodontist has completed more than 100 Invisalign treatments during the last 12 months, in which time the orthodontist Amir Philips has treated more than 120 patients during that same period.

Invisalign is available for adults with no age limit as well as for children from the age of 15 with Invisalign Teen.

First step: the Clincheck and your first aligners.

Your Clincheck is created according to the diagnosis made by your Invisalign orthodontist and the digital impression of your teeth.

What is the purpose of the Clincheck ?

Objective 1: Visualisation of a personalised and unique simulation of treatment thanks to a 3D software.

Objective 2: The simulation will serve as basis for the creation of the aligners that you will receive 2 to 4 weeks later at your orthodontists.

Second step: Follow-up and rectifying during the treatment

You will see your orthodontist every 8 weeks approximately in order to check the alignment of your teeth and rectify the treatment if necessary.

The length of the treatment is variable depending on the number of aligners needed to move your teeth to the desired alignment.

It is possible to accelerate the treatment by changing your aligners more often and by using Acceledent. This small device emits a soft vibration which helps raise the cell activity therefore accelerating the rate at which the dental position can be corrected.

Like a treatment with braces it is possible to feel some minor discomfort or pain the following days after the start of the treatment. A painkiller can be can ease the sensations if necessary. The discomfort lasts only a few days and is not worrying. It is the result of the pressure on your teeth and ligaments applied by the aligners.

Invisalign can treat the majority of malocclusions:

  • Class I malocclusions and crowded teeth: malocclusions characterised by a good occlusion but with crowded teeth, more often on the upper and lower incisors

  • Class II and III malocclusions: Class II malocclusions are characterized by a forwarded position of the superior molars compared to the inferior molars. Class III malocclusions are characterized by a forwarded position of the inferior molars compared to the superior molars.

  • Occlusion with an open bite: a gap (open bite) between the upper and lower arches.

However only an orthodontist can confirm if your malocclusion is treatable by an Invisalign treatment.

Esthetic

Only the lingual braces are totally invisible seeing as the braces are fixed behind your teeth. The Invisalign treatment is transparent and almost invisible.

Cost

Only your orthodontist can tell you the cost of the orthodontic treatment according to your needs. A lingual treatment is slightly more expensive than a treatment with transparent aligners.

Handy-wise

You will see your orthodontist less often with a treatment with aligners as you will change your aligners by yourself every two weeks, and then come to the practice approximately every 8 to 10 weeks. For braces you will have to see your orthodontist every 5 to 7 weeks to change the wires.

Comfort / speech

The removable aligners can create a temporary minor discomfort at the start of the treatment. It is a short-term effect. The speech can be slightly affected temporarily.

Lingual braces impact the position of the tongue and thus the speech and can create irritations.

Hygiene

The aligners are removable so you can keep a better control of your oral hygiene. Flossing and brushing your teeth is therefore easier with the aligners considering the position of the braces at the back of the teeth with the lingual technique.

Philips Orthodontics practices offer you the possibility to spread the cost over the length of the treatment. Contact us for more information.

The answer is no. The practitioner must be an Invisalign Provider. The orthodontist Philips is certified and his expertise and experience give him the possibility to teach dentists and orthodontists to the technique, in Belgium and in Luxembourg. He is a Platinium Elite Invisalign Provider, one of the highest levels of competence in the domain.

Both can be possible so far as the practitioner is certified Invisalign provider. You will need to check on the Invisalign website. However orthodontists have more experience treating malocclusions as it is their specialty.

Indeed orthodontics requires 3 to 4 supplementary years to get certified, and furthermore, orthodontists practice exclusively in their field thus leading to an advantage in quality of treatment.
